Aircraft Crash Survivor Weekend
Bushcraft Survival School Brecon Beacons two-day course:
This course looks at five actual aircraft crash sites in the Brecon Beacons and how survivors could have used bushcraft, survival and first aid skills to stabilise casualties, find food, water and build shelters before navigating off the mountain to safety
Bushcraft Survival Course Content:
Shelter building, Water collection and Field cooking
Depending on the situation or hostile environment, shelters are required to provide shade or shelter from the elements, which is fundamental to sustaining life. During this survival situation, students will learn how to construct an emergency shelter before building their own from materials found in the area. This section includes finding and collecting water from various sources and filtering techniques used to purify water for drinking, cooking and cleaning wounds. Students will also learn how to cook in the field using natural materials and limited equipment.
Tracks and Traps
Teaches participants how to hunt for food in order to survive for extended periods or so they can find food on the move. This involves students learning about animal behavior, their routine and where they live, tracking, trapping, dispatching and preparation.
Foliage, Forage and Fire
Teaches a student about plant life that is native to the area and how these can be used. This includes plants and moss, which is poisonous, edible or that, can be used as antiseptics on casualties. Collecting food from the local surroundings and making fires using various techniques and materials. This also includes building and preparing fires for emergency signaling and rescue teams.
